Standing on a cliff,
with my arms wide open.
The stone breathes slow beneath me,
and something in the deep calls my name.
I’m humbled in my plea,
asking for a peace I never earned.
There’s no forgiveness waiting below,
only the echo of a chain I never chose to wear.
This isn’t the life that I wanted,
nor the dreams that I chased.
I fill my chamber
with one borrowed flame.
But emptiness inside
can’t be filled with lies.
Still I keep feeding it,
and call it a life.
Love breaks my will —
not lust, but the weight of what I feel.
My body moves like something borrowed,
a vessel I can’t quite live in.
And the love I carry burns one way,
toward a name I cannot speak aloud.
If you reached for me just once,
I’d fall without touching the ground.
Around me is frozen shame,
but my heart still beats.
With love that cannot be tamed,
I offer it quietly —
but you cannot take.
Guess nobody wants
what they cannot name.
This isn’t the life that I wanted,
nor the dreams that I chased.
I fill my chamber
with one borrowed flame.
But emptiness inside
can’t be filled with lies.
Still I keep feeding it,
and call it a life.
Still standing on a cliff,
and looking down.
The abyss opens like a mouth,
patient, certain, dark.
Yet with a glimpse of hope, I choose
to step back for now.
I’m not strong enough
to vanish tonight.
This isn’t the life that I wanted,
but I’m living it still.
Nor the dreams that I chased,
but I’m chasing them still.
I fill my chamber
with one borrowed flame,
thinking it was safer
if I never spoke your name.
But emptiness inside
can’t be filled with lies.
Still I keep doing it,
and call…
it a life…
So I stay…
Not because I’m brave,
but because I’m not brave enough
to leave…
